Monday down. Just a few more to go! I’m thinking about doing something BIG this weekend 😏
I got to ride with my favorite club a couple days ago, the USO Outdoor Adventure Team right here in Hampton Roads, Virginia. I love this particular group because there has never been any stigma with being a new fsce, there isn’t any gatekeeping… I was nervous the first time I showed up to their shop, but they’ve always treated me like family, and it’s meant a ton! So gents, if any of you read this, thanks. I don’t think you know how much it all means to me.
I didn’t think we’d be going very fast that day. I also didn’t think we’d be getting a KOM on strava! There was no wind, which is extremely rare in our neck of the woods. Combined with the three of us cyclists finding that oh-so-sweet harmony that dances on the edge of slicing through the air like a knife through butter, and crashing into each other, we were CRUISING. We hit and sustained 35 mph over flat land at one point.
That was only the beginning though. My good friend, let’s call him Jake, and I shot down to the oceanfront, where he took the lead, and showed me an amazing route nestled away cozily in the nooks of Virginia Beach that I had always rode past but never stopped to look closely. The scenery was beautiful, the roads were smooth, and there was hardly any traffic. I wish I had known all that was there sooner!
I am approaching a vast change in my life, and as such, I’m pretty muddled about it. Jake was able to give me some really good advice, and it really struck home. I can’t say how fortunate I feel to be surrounded by people like him at this point in my life. Jake, if you read this, you know who you are, thanks.
There’s no better ride than the one that feeds your mind and bares your soul.
Stay frosty my friends.
